Probably one of the highest ever measured speeds of a billiard ball was recorded a few days ago at the newest MWS location, the Billiard Friends Pforzheim (Baden-Württemberg, Germany). Fortunately, this was a technical error on our part, which had occurred during the installation and configuration of the MWS system. Because at a speed of Mach 2, any billiard ball would undoubtedly lose its orientation. The curious output invites to smile, which is why we don't want to withhold it from you. In the meantime, the technical systems are running smoothly again and the ball tracking software provides normalized speed values.
Pforzheim has around 125,000 inhabitants, the city on the northern edge of the Black Forest lies between Stuttgart and Karlsruhe. The Billiard Friends Pforzheim are a comparatively young carom billiards club that was only founded in 1993. Three match billiards and four small tournament billiards are available to the approximately 50 members of the club, and recently also a MWS system. With the Billiard Friends, the MWS community is growing by a good bit, and soon the Pforzheim players will join the MWS tournament events.
There are currently MWS systems at 26 locations in 8 countries. And they can all connect and play billiards together remotely, from real table to real table, with real cues, real balls, and in real time - but location independent, at remote locations. Around 300 players who currently have access to a system in their own club form the MWS community.
