With two singles events this coming weekend the Royal Pro Home Tour starts into the spring round. On Saturday (March 5th) a three cushion tournament will be played, on Sunday (March 6th) a five pins competition follows. These are the tournaments 11 and 12 of a total of 20 on the Home Tour 2021/22, which is endowed with a total prize money of € 10,000. The Royal Pro Home Tour is an international carom billiards tournament series that is played online via the MWS system at various MWS locations worldwide.
At the halfway point of the current season, the Austrian Georg Schmied leads the three cushion overall ranking with 24 pts. Tay-Dien Truong, second in the rankings, has 16 pts, while Andreas Efler is currently third with 15 pts. With three tournament victories and two more podium finishes, Schmied is the season's dominator in this discipline. Of course, his challengers want to snatch this top position from him again and are highly motivated, above all Truong and Efler. It won't be easy for Schmied's pursuers, they are all already under pressure and urgently need good results, otherwise Schmied could pull away from them in the overall standings. The top trio shares the role of favorites to win the tournament next Saturday, all participants and tournament details are listed below in the text.
The lead in the five pins discipline ranking is currently shared by two players, and three players are shared third place. Ernst-Jan Driessen and Marius Kroonen are at the top with 12 pts each. The chasing trio of Ernest Driessen, Andreas Efler and Jimmy Riml is just behind them with 9 pts. But the top favorite for the tournament victory next Sunday is the Italian Luca Marzio Garavaglia. The Five Pins Doctor has won every tournament he has competed in throughout Home Tour history. His incredible 100% rate makes him look like an insatiable predator in the eyes of some competitors. The bottom line is that the on all sides esteemed top coach from near Milan currently has 9 successes, due to deadlines only one start until now was possible for him in the current season. But also the transnational family duel Driessen sen. (Ernest, Poland) vs. Driessen jun. (Ernst-Jan, Netherlands) could provide special moments of tension, since they are dueling for both the Home Tour throne and their internal sporting supremacy.
